Marketing

What’s new in Marketing?

Marketing has more varied definitions and perspectives than most other professions. One key reason that great marketing evolves nearly constantly is to keep up with changing customers, products, media and competition.

We see marketing as understanding the wants and needs of customers, finding a way to serve those customers profitably, communicating and building a long lasting relationship with those customers by providing them real value and service.

“Whereever you work, there is a huge scope for changing how you do things in ways that can make a massive difference.”
~ Peter Drucker, management professor and author

The evolutionary pace of Marketing continues to accelerate:
• Push marketing traditionally advertised to customers through television, print, radio and direct mail.
• Pull marketing evolved as ‘newer’ technologies including the Internet allowed customers to find information and solutions to their needs.
• Networking and Social Media are overtaking many traditional media by allowing customers to get recommendations and information from their friends, family and social networks.

According to US Marketing Managers, 7 of the top 8 customer communication channels are primarily Internet based. Even more interesting that direct mail, print and broadcast advertising are the 3 media ranked lowest by those same marketing managers.
